Communications

The police department's communications center is the 24 hour public safety answering point for Floyd County. It operates under Iowa code 28E to offer law enforcement, fire and EMS communications services for the entire county, answering emergency 911 calls, dispatching services and routing calls. The communications center handles approximately 23,600 calls per year. The dispatchers are meticulously selected and academy certified. They are currently working on making the communications center 100% Emergency Medical Dispatch certified. They are also a trigger for our local tornado sirens and our county CODE RED systems. This system allows us to make mass notifications by way of a reverse 911 system and could be used in many situations such as evacuations, disaster or missing child. We encourage you to sign up and modify your personal data by clicking here. CODE RED.
